Red G900 Touchscreen Phone for UK
Posted by sawaru | Category: Mobile Phone
Sony Ericsson recently launched a red version of its latest mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson G900, in the U.K. The red G900 phone is equipped with the same technology used in the G900 series and the original model. It also has the same design and comes with the same features; the only difference is that Sony has outfitted the phone in a red casing.
Currently, the Sony Ericsson G900 is only available on the O2 U.K. network, but is soon to be released on other networks.
The new red G900 was launched after the phone manufacturer observed that red colored devices tend to sell well.
The G900 allows users to listen to music, make calls, send messages, and surf the Web. It features a touch screen and a 5-megapixel camera.

LG top in touchscreen mobile phone sale
Posted by sawaru | Category: Mobile Phone, Smartphone
Korea-based LG is nonetheless one of the largest manufacturers of any cellphone type and reports selling 27.7 million phones in the April-to-June quarter, pushing past Sony Ericsson’s 24.4 million. The electronics giant is likely to assume third place in world market share after Nokia’s 122 million phones and Samsung’s expected higher numbers. These two companies have both seen their average selling prices drop as their sales balance shifts to lower-cost phones.
LG on Monday revealed that it has sold about 7 million touchscreen cellphones since the company first introduced a full touch device through the Prada Phone in early 2007. The company claims to have the "leadership" of the category and notes that two million of these are the KU990 Viewty camera phone; the next most popular devices are the North America-focused Venus and Voyager at 1.6 million and 1.3 million examples each, according to the company. The remaining 2.1 million are split between the Vu as well as models that are largely only available in Europe or Korea.
Really no room left for buttons

It’s been a good year for touch screens.
The launch of the first iPhone model a year ago boosted interest in the technology tremendously, and the updated model available Friday likely will stoke enthusiasm further. Now touch-screen manufacturers are going flat out, and more devices will soon be controlled by the tip of your finger.
"After the iPhone came out, a lot of mobile-phone companies said ‘Oh, I can make that kind of touch-screen mobile phone, too,’" said Jennifer Colegrove, analyst at iSuppli Corp.
Jon Mulder, product marketing manager for Sony Ericsson’s U.S. arm, said touch screens have become a "hygiene factor" - a must-have for phones that want to compete in the high end of the U.S. market.
Colegrove projects that 341 million touch screens will be shipped worldwide this year, up from 218 million in 2007 and 81 million in 2006.
Egg Phone trendsetter for future phone designs?
Posted by admin | Category: Mobile Phone, Trend Watch & News
Could we possibly see, sometime in the future, a Nokia Egg? Or a Sony Ericsson Egg? Only time will tell.
However, regardless of who creates the "mobile egg", we really hope someone will do it. With such a look and features, this mobile handset has all the chances to become a hit, especially among the users who look for a unique mobile phone.
A young designer from Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, recently came up with a fresh and good looking mobile phone concept, called the Egg Phone. Far from being bulky like an egg, the new handset mobile phone has an oval-shaped, curved case that seems to be quite slim and, more important, it can probably fit well in users’ hands.
Roman Tubl, the creator of the Egg handset, imagined the device having "illuminated" margins and a wide touchscreen display with tactile feedback, which represents the only way users can control the device’s functions. Therefore, it seems we have here the very first full-touchscreen phone that clearly differentiates itself from Apple’s iPhone and its design. Which is, obviously, a good thing.
Besides the touchscreen, said to be easy to use, the Egg phone should also have a pretty cool range of features, including: a 3.2 Megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a USB port for both charging and data transfers, Enlarge picture and an internal memory of "up to 4GB". If some 3G speeds and other goodies can also be squeezed in the Egg, then the handset is, at least theoretically, a very attractive one.

Touchscreen Mobile Phone boom

Shipments of touchscreen handsets will hit 178 million by 2011, according to new research.
The touch-screen craze that started with the iPhone last year is set to spread from what MultiMedia Intelligence calls a ’rounding error’ to an impressive 178 million units at the start of the next decade.
As big name vendors like Nokia (N96), Sony Ericsson (Xperia), LG (Vu) and HTC (Touch Dual) bring touchy-feely devices to market, the research company says the segment is primed to explode.
Frank Dickson, chief research officer at MultiMedia Intelligence, said: "The touch screen interface is here to stay as it is a tremendous innovation in handsets.
However, it is not perfect. It is not ideal for all usage paradigms. Qwerty keyboards, sliders, and plain, old standard keyboards have their fans as well. Additionally, touch screens add considerable expense of the handset bill of materials."

Samsung Electronics unusually said dismissive words about the business strategy of its rival LG Electronics and LG talked back to Samsung. LG said at Mobile World Congress 2008 that its flagship product for this year is “Touch phone.” LG said.“Considering the results of Customer Insight survey, we found out that users feel uncomfortable with complicated process to activate MP3, camera or Bluetooth. We therefore intend to focus on intuitive touch technology that can make user’s life a lot easier.” Mr. Scott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, “We will overwhelm the rivals by releasing more than ten touch phones priced 300 dollars or more in this year. And then, we may introduce more phones at less than 300 dollars to reach broader customer base.” Read the rest of this entry »
