Blackjack 3 aka Samsung i788

Posted by sawaru | Category: Mobile Phone, Windows Mobile

blackjack-III-atnt Rumor is floating around that AT&T will be launching the BlackJack III Samsung i788 some time in the very near future. It will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and will get loaded with HSDPA, GPS, WiFi, and optical mouse pointer. Perhaps the most notable change, however, is that the BJ3 may actually be equipped with a touchscreen. I wonder if that was just a slip of the tongue on the part of the Boy Genius.
In any case, we’ll have to sit tight until AT&T and Samsung make some sort of official announcement.

Windows Mobile Group , roadmap to Windows Mobile 7.

Unwired View is reporting that handset manufacturer MWG will be releasing a plethora of new Windows Mobile phone. In their upcoming roadmap, it seems that there will be releasing a Windows Mobile 7 phone by the end of the year 2008!
The roadmap of devices to be released, according to Unwired View:

windows-mobile-7
Q3 2008 has only one handset scheduled, and that’s a slim 12.5 mm MWG Rici Windows Mobile  6.1 smartphone with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.2 Mbps HSUPA connectivity, 3 megapixel camera and GPS.
Q4 2008 gets much more interesting with 4 pretty impressive devices scheduled. And the first of them - MWG Flame II is supposed to to run on Windows mobile 7! Other MWG Flame 2 specs include big 3.5″ or higher (touchscreen, I’m sure) display, advanced multimedia features, 3.2 megapixel camera and GPS.
MWG Iris is a slim touchscreen slider with QWERTY keyboard, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.2 HSUPA connectivity and GPS. There’s another non- touchscreen phone model called Graphite II, but no specs for it are defined yet.
And MWG also plans to have an ultraportable PC, called MWG Walk PC for the end of 2008, with Vista OS and built-in 3G. My guess is, it will be one of MID/UMPC devices along the lines of HTC Shift UMPC.
In the begriming of 2009 we’ll se 2 more Windows Mobile 7 equipped smartphones from MWG. Slim, multimedia centric MWG Atom IV, with 7.2 HSDPA and 5.2 HSUPA connectivity, 3.2 camera and GPS. And 12.5 mm slim, messaging oriented QWERTY slider MWG Vix with some kind of novel keyboard, 3.2  camera and GPS.

Samsung Soul-2-Soul ready for masses

Posted by admin | Category: Mobile Phone, Trend Watch & News

samsung_soul_003In today’s episode of Slightly Over the Top Product Names and the Marketing Folks that Love Them, we bring you Samsung’s Soul, a cool new phone with an OLED touch pad screen (that is haptic responsive) and a ‘user-changed graphic interface.’ The touchpad rests below the main screen, and the key feature is that the touch buttons change according to the application on the screen that you are using.

As a result, texting, calling, and playing music all have different buttons that generate on the touch screen and help to reduce UI confusion. At least that’s the goal — we’ll see if it actually works when we get our hands on it.

The Soul’s specs (other than its self-aware, immortal existence) are the following: 7.2Mbps Quad-band/HSDPA, 12.9mm thickness, 2.2-inch screen (at 320 x 240), RSS Reader, and an SD slot.

The cell phone also has top of the line cam-phone specs, including a huge 5.0 Megapixel sensor, high-res QVGA recording capabilities, face detection, and an image stabilizer.

But back to the naming question: Even with the seemingly great specs, who wants to burden the phone (and their users’ daily life) with a way-too-aspiring name like this one?

“What phone do you have there Johnson?”

“The Soul, by Samsung. You?”

“The God X1, S7234389 XX2, Live.”

“Agh, another Sony Ericsson/Windows phone. No thanks.”
