Posted by sawaru | Category: Laptop & Notebook, Tablet PC & UMPC

hp_pavilionSmall laptops are great for the frequent traveler or for anyone who just likes having their computer on them when they’re out and about. You don’t want to lug around something that’ll weigh you down, but today’s cellphones with web access just are no match for the functionality of a full computer.

One of the best smaller computers out there is the HP FE912UA Pavilion TX2510US Entertainment 12.1” Touch-screen Notebook PC. It’s totally versatile, with a 12.1-inch screen that you can swivel around and fold back on the keyboard, using it as a touchscreen. That’ll allow you to surf the web on it as a tablet without using a keyboard, easily rotating the keyboard out again when you need to type something. In addition, it has 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and a DVD drive for watching movies and burning DVDs. It’s a great, fully-functioning laptop, just shrunk down and blessed with an innovative touchscreen. What more are you looking for?

Sony PSP touch screen patent

Posted by sawaru | Category: Games & Console

psptouchme Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) was granted a patent on Friday for a “hand-held [sic] device with touchscreen and digital tactile pixels.” It’d be a stretch to say any of this is explicitly indicative of a PSP 2.0 or PSP phone, but it is interesting to note that “game device” is listed as one of the potential applications, alongside a plethora of other sony handhelds: phone, portable media player, email device, web browser device or navigation device.

Motorola Blaze for Verizon Visual voicemail

Posted by sawaru | Category: Mobile Phone, Smartphone

motorola-blaze1214695867 Verizon sure has been hitting the touch screen hype very hard as of late, and the newest such device has been out for sale already. The device is the Motorola Blaze, which we first heard about when it was spotted on a list of devices to get Verizon’s upcoming visual voicemail service. Perhaps for the first time though, Verizon has got a little to anxious to stock up on touch devices, as it is being reported as sub par. Apparently, the screen on the device is not very responsive, and it has only the most common of features. It does have EV-DO Rev. A, and of course the visual voicemail, both which will help at least a few get off the shelves. The device looks like the Motorola Ming, and is all touch with no keyboard. No price or availability for the device was given, but we are not holding our breathe for this one.

home_disney Disneyland, specifically “The Tomorrowland” presents several new showcase this year.

The “Innoventions Dream Home,” as the 5,000-square-foot attraction is called, is located inside the Carousel of Progress building, where guests used to watch vignettes of American history revolve past them.

It is designed not as something futuristic for the “Jetsons” but for the fictional Elias family (Walt Disney’s middle name), with early 20th-century art nouveau and art deco flourishes.

Inside, it’s filled with countless flat-screen TVs, digital photo frames and interactive software that brings cookbooks to life and mirrors that might charm Snow White’s wicked stepmother.

It’s all high-tech, no-touch.

There are two features worth pondering.
