Posted by admin | Category: GPS Navigation & Guidance System, Mobile Phone

centro_att1.jpgThe AT&T version, for $99 after rebate and a two-year contract, features XM Radio Mobile, a push-to-talk capability and MusicID for identifying songs, a Palm spokeswoman said. It operates over AT&T’s EDGE network.

The Centro has preserved both a touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard. The touch screen, at 320 by 320 pixel resolution and 2.2 inches diagonally, takes up about half of the upper part of the device. In all, the Centro is 4.22 by 2.11 by .73 inches and weighs only 4.4 ounces, making it one of the smallest and lightest Palm products released. It is available in white today from AT&T and black next month. Read the rest of this entry »

ER efficiency improve using selfhelp check-ins

Posted by admin | Category: Medical, Trend Watch & News

Navater Brown expected to wait hours to see a doctor when she showed up recently at a Newark hospital emergency room with a cut on her leg.

But instead of signing in and waiting to explain her symptoms, Brown was immediately escorted to one of three check-in kiosks in Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s emergency department. The wall-mounted device enabled her to enter her name on a touch screen, along with her birth date, sex and ZIP code.

Brown was then directed to key in the reason for her visit, leading her to select “pain” from a menu of descriptive phrases or terms. Next, she pointed out the problem area, her leg, on an outline of the body - there is one for men, one for women - that popped up on the screen.

With a single touch, Brown’s information was immediately relayed to the emergency department’s main computer, where a nurse reviewed it.

“It was fast and simple,” said Brown, 19, who found herself sitting in front of a nurse within 10 minutes of her arrival.

Kiosks have been used for years elsewhere, such as airports, to speed passengers through check-in. Now they are becoming more common in the health-care setting, especially
hospitals, where half of all emergency rooms are operating at or above capacity.

Administrators are desperately looking for ways to move patients through registration and evaluation faster.

“It cuts out handoffs and drives efficiency improvements,” said Ron Wince, a health-care efficiency.

HTC Shift wireless mini PC by Orange

Posted by admin | Category: Laptop & Notebook, Tablet PC & UMPC, Trend Watch & News

Mobile communications firm Orange is planning to offer UK businesses the latest device from HTC, known as Shift, which includes a seven-inch touch screen mobile computer.

The Shift is smaller and lighter than a laptop, with mobile data connectivity.

It has a seven-inch touch screen that “slides and tilts” to the perfect viewing angle, said Orange. It also has a full Qwerty keyboard.

Users can switch between Microsoft Windows Mobile and Microsoft Windows Vista, said Orange.

The device supports 3G/3G+ and Wi-Fi. The Shift also comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Office in Vista mode, enabling users to download, view and edit Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents.

It comes with a 30GB hard-drive, large enough for most mobile offices.

ToyQuest fun touch table

ToyQuest have launched their innovative 21-inch Touch Table EES. This gadget is both entertaining and educational and offers many functions to choose from. If you’re bored, there are some great games to play and if you’re looking for something more educational, you can take an aerial view of the world with a Google-Earth type globe.toyquest-table

That’s not all. Enjoy your favourite movie thanks to the help of the installed DVD player and rotate the touch-screen display to ensure perfect viewing. If that’s not enough, there’s a built-in dock for the Wii and the table is loaded with the features you’d expect like Calculator, screen savers and wallpapers.

Unfortunately, there’s no Internet connectivity. It’s hard to say whether the ToyQuest Touch Table EES is worth the $499 asking price, because as its company name implies, this is basically just a toy.

HP VGA big-screen PDA

Posted by admin | Category: GPS Navigation & Guidance System, PDA, Windows Mobile

PDAs aren’t dead yet. Nor is Intel’s XScale chip technology. Hewlett-Packard’s new, attractive big-screen handheld packs an application processor that still includes plenty of Intel’s XScale DNA.

HP is now shipping production units of the long-awaited iPaq 210 (originally slated to ship last year) that features a 4.0-inch, 640×480 (VGA) resolution screen. The 210 (which is rebranded internationally as the 211, 212, and 214), comes with a Marvell PXA310 processor running at 624MHz, 128MB of memory, and 256MB of flash ROM.

Though Intel sold the business that made XScale processors to Marvell more than a year and a half ago (June 2006), Marvell is still making processors based on Intel technologies. Marvell states that the PXA3xx processor family “is the third generation of applications processors based on Intel’s XScale technology.” The PXA310, made on a 90-nanometer process, includes Intel SpeedStep technology, Intel Wireless Trusted Module encryption technology, and an Intel Wireless MMX 2 co-processor. Infobox create public awareness

Posted by admin | Category: GPS Navigation & Guidance System, Trend Watch & News

VISITORS to the Kingfisher Centre can access the latest crime prevention advice from West Mercia Constabulary on a new interactive information stand.

kiosk-force1The Infobox, the first of its kind for the force, has four touch-screen displays which people can use to log on to current appeals, police news, crime prevention information and job opportunities in the police.

The unmanned information point also warns shoppers about the use of mobile phones when driving, keeping your purse safe when shopping and not to leave sat nav equipment in view when leaving your car.

Insp Ian Joseph, from Redditch police, said the Infobox was part of the force’s commitment to be increasingly accessible by making it easier for the public to contact them for information.

“This will help our local communities interact with us more easily.

“It’s an excellent and exciting initiative, which takes us out into the busiest area of town.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s received but I’m confident people will like it and want to take advantage of it,” he said.

Zune 80GB improved touch navigation pad

Posted by admin | Category: MP3 Player, Portable Media Player & Storage, Video Player

The new Zune 80GB from Microsoft is an extremely well-engineered multimedia player.

The big, bright 3.2-inch glass screen at the front, in combination with matte-finished aluminum at the back makes it a must-have item for all multimedia player fashion snobs.

zune-80gb One of the highlights of this player is the touch-sensing pad which sets it apart from many other players. This exceptional navigation pad performs like a cross between a standard four-direction navigation pad and a laptop’s touch pad. You can press or slide your finger in four directions, and scroll through songs, photos or videos with a gentle touch of your fingertip.

The Zune comes with a built-in FM radio tuner so you can listen to your favorite radio stations, something that makes it a worthy iPod alternative.

Microsoft also gave the Zune the ability to wirelessly share songs with other Zune users. You can listen to full-length tracks sent to you up to three times. It handles the wireless transfers smoothly and with very little setup.

Trendy Vespa outfit

Posted by admin | Category: Car & Bike, Trend Watch & News

This Vespa is bright red, has a Louis Vuitton seat, a custom spare tire (that doesn’t look like it could actually work on the Vespa) and an touchscreen computer. It also won the award for “Best Modern Vespa” at the Amerivespa contest.

 scooter-with-a-built-in-pc1_2263

It seems everyone is obsessed with bringing the latest gadgets and technology into their car but what about the scooters? No one has bought them bang up to date with technology? Well they hadn’t, until now! This brand new Vespa GTS comes rocking a Windows XP PC will touch screen LCD display. This fits nicely where the old spare box used to be!

Not only that, but the scooter also has integrated speakers and a cooling vent on the side of the boot so your PC stays nice and chilled!

Now, all this gadgetry hasn’t taken away from the sheer class of the Vespa - it still has the spare tyre on the back with the LV seat! What more could you want?! Supercars have nothing on this beauty!

My only question is which cost more, the Vespa or the touchscreen LCD PC? I must admit, the flashy spare tire on the back and the LV seat material give it that extra flair to make this thing the most Hood Rich scooter too.
