Onda VX747 PMP features galore
Posted by admin | Category: MP3 Player, Portable Media Player & Storage
The VX747 is the first touch screen interactive player to use the new JZ4732 chipset, like other similar players, this can play unconverted videos that are in a high resolution state at 30FPS. It can play a variety of audio and video file formats. The touch screen gives the user interface a slick feel, this is definitely a mark improvement from Onda VX858 and VX878. This model is available in 4GB and 8GB of internal memory.
The overall design looks like a smaller version of the iPod Touch, with chrome contours, the 3 buttons on the front are +(volume up), M (Menu) and -(volume down), these buttons are generally for increasing and decreasing volume, but they can also be used for the built-in games.
Screen:
The VX747 boast a 16:9, 3 inch screen, 262k colors QVGA (also called WQVGA), with a resolution of 400×240, a very good screen quality, easy to clean, and sensitive enough for you to use your fingers on it.
User Interface:
The interface is very simple. Three(3) buttons on the front, one(1) power on/off slide-button on the side, a small Reset-button hole just in case you need it(you can use the stylus pen or a paper clip), USB 5-pin standard Mini-USB, also standard 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro SD/SDHC slot supporting 512MB to 32gb.
GUI(graphical interface):
The graphical interface is pretty straight forward. At the moment you turn on the player, after the intro animation, it displays the whole menu, very easy to learn. Some hidden customizations you can do are changing the background picture for different functions(music, radio, etc.). There are a few themes pre-installed in the player that you can choose
from.
Audio:
This player is compatible with MP3, WMA, WAV, APE and FLAC files. The audio quality may depend on how the music has been encoded, but it does support MP3 with CBR (Constant BitRate) and VBR (Variable BitRate). It has an equalizer with SRS WOW, BBE, Customizable EQ and & Preset EQ, so you can choose how to improve the sound as you wish. The simple audio spectrum shows only if the music doesn’t have a lyrics file, otherwise it displays the lyrics, synchronized with the music. This player also has a built-in speaker. The purpose of this, is if you want to show a video, or let friends listen to music, you only have to enable/disable it by touching the speaker icon on the top left of the screen. If the menu disappeared, touch the screen once to make it reappear. It doesn’t support playlists, but most of us don’t even use this option even on our own computers. You can make your own folders and put the music inside them, creating categories of music and playing only 1 folder, acting like a playlist. The playback time for audio is about 17 hours(with the screen off).
Video:
Video compatibility is impressive on this player. While the player supports RM/RMVB, AVI, FLV (Flash Video) files, DAT, ASF, MP4, WMV, 3GP, and MPG for those found on Youtube, but to read FLV files, you have to manually choose them, meaning that you have to choose Browser in the main menu, and go to your folder where your FLV files are, touch one and choose Play, otherwise the files won’t display if you go in Video. The player support files with a video bitrate up to around 750kb, higher than this might make the video lag since the processor inside does have a limit. But 700kb for a video bitrate is pretty good for a 3inch 16:9 screen! If you have any doubts that your videos might not work(H264 files, or strangely-encoded videos), you might want to check our forum about videos encoding and tools to re-encode your videos to work fine. The video playback time is about 6 hours. Hard to imagine that, but the JZ4740 requires far less power than other similar chipsets. Therefore requiring far less demand on the battery.
